James Bongiorno was an associate at the firm Bodner & O’Rourke for over fifteen years, and now practices at O’Rourke IP Law, P.L.L.C.  Mr. Bongiorno is a member of the New York Bar and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Jim is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of N.Y., and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

His practice involves patentability, non-infringement, and freedom to operate opinions for clients in a variety of fields; and utility and design patent prosecution in a range of technology areas, including complex mechanical inventions, AI, Augmented/Virtual Reality, Medical Devices, Electrical inventions, and Compositions.

 

Mr. Bongiorno is a graduate of the Sibley School of Mechanical Engineering at Cornell University, earning a BS degree, and earned a J.D. degree magna cum laude from the Touro College Law Center.  

 

Prior to law school, Mr. Bongiorno worked extensively in the aerospace industry as a design engineer on new and derivative military and commercial aircraft development programs, including the Air Force B-2 Bomber, the Navy/Marine F/A-18 Hornet, the Boeing 777, and the Gulfstream G-V corporate jet. His experience consisted of designing Primary Structure and Mechanical Systems, and some Fuel, Hydraulic, and Environmental Control Systems Design, which included solid modeling of designs using various 3D software packages (CADD/CADAM/NCAD/CATIA), and 2D drawing creation of parts, assemblies, and installations.
